Free library management software
Greenstone Digital Library Software: An open-source software for building a digital library. Suppose you have collected a lot of textual information from the web/other sources and stored it in hundreds of Word files in your PC. Then this software will automatically index all the text you have stored and create a web page interface to search through these pages (just like Google). Very useful in a school environment.

Freeware for libraries: A lot of freeware is available on the web. But do use them with caution as some freeware may contain malware. Also, some softwares are free only if you utilise them for personal use. Here I have singled out some softwares which may be used in a library for one purpose or other.

CCleaner: Crap Cleaner which I too use a lot. It removes unused and temporary files from your system, including cleaning the registry.
K-Lite Codec Pack: You need Codecs to play a wide variety of audio and video formats. K-Lite bundles a lot of useful Codecs. So next time your PC is unable to recognize an audio/video file, try installing this pack.
Foxit PDF Reader: Free PDF reader, and quite efficient too.
Free Download Manager
PDFCreator: A free tool to create PDF files from nearly any Windows application.
WAMP: Apache, PHP5 and MySQL server. Some library softwares may require a server to run. For instance, KOHA.
